New Delhi, June 14 (UNI) About 205 people were killed and 982 injured in fatal accidents involving two-wheelers during the last five months, police said.

Pointing out that many of these people were killed when not wearing helmets, the police said a large number of those riding or pillion riding on two-wheelers were observed riding the vehicle without proper protective headgear.

In fact, the police said 10, out of the total number of 196 fatal accidents that occurred till May 31, were caused by the driver not wearing helmets.

Also, during the year 2006, 80,882 two-wheeler riders have been prosecuted for not wearing helmets while 19,879 pillion riders have been prosecuted for the same offence.
