Vidyadhar on for main draw berth, women crash out in Malaysian Open
Kuching, June 13 (UNI) JBS Vidyadhar cleared his first round qualifier match to keep alive his hopes for a main draw berth even though the women's trio of Sayali Gokhale, Aditi Mutatkar and Ruth Misha fell by the wayside in the four-star Malaysian Open Badminton Tournament here today.
In the first round of the men's singles qualifiers, Vidyadhar played a compact game against Malaysian shuttler Xiang Wei Vong and carved out a 21-17, 21-16 win to movew to the second round.
The Indian faces Hang Hui Lay in the second round qualifier match.
Meanwhile, all three Indians bit dust in women's qualifiers losing their second round games.
Sayali Gokhale tried her best but could not stop Malaysian Anita Raj Kaur from walking away with a 21-17, 21-19 win, while Aditi Mutatkar suffered a 18-21, 19-21 defeat against Japanese Kaori Imabeppu.
Fellow Indian Ruth Misha proved no match at all for her Korean opponent Jae Youn Jun who won it 21-11, 21-11.
