Seagate launches 10 new products in India digital market

New Delhi, June 13 (UNI) In a bid to increase its market share in India and cater to the growing digital content needs, Seagate, leading electronic applications provider, today released 10 new products in the country.

The newly launched products include 1.8-inch, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives with up to 750GB of capacity for consumer electronics, notebook and desktop PC and enterprise applications.

The company also introduced a notebook drive that combines rotating disc and flash memory.

''The demand of consumer electronics is growing day-by-day. Our revenue growth for CY06 is 5.5 billion dollars as against 4.3 billion dollars in CY05. It is expected to be 14.3 billion dollars in CY09,'' Seagate Country Manager (India and SAARC Countries) Rajesh Khurana said.

On market share of Seagate in India, Mr Khurana said it was 74 per cent for 2005. ''The available market size in India is 9 lakh units',' he added.

On May 22, 2006, Seagate had announced that it had completed its acquisition of Maxtor Corporation. The company had retained the Seagate name and continues to be listed on New York Stock Exchange as 'STX' while Maxtor common stock has ceased to trade.
