OGP MLA denies his ourburst on Orissa CM and others

Bhubaneswar, Jun 13 (UNI) Orissa Gana Parishad(OGP) MLA Arun Dey who has been mired in a controversy over his outburst against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and others today clarified that he did not incite any one to resort to violence.

'' I am extremely sorry and deeply hurt that I have been quoted out of context and the tenor of my talk with the press was grossly misunderstood, '' Mr Dey told mediapersons here clarifying his statement that appeared in a section of the press.

A language daily had quoted Mr Dey urging the banned Maoists to kill the Chief Minister, his Council of Ministers and the state Chief Secretary while denouncing the Orissa government's decision to ban the CPI(Maoist) and its seven frontal organisations.

A former BJP MLA had already lodged a FIR in Balasore town police station against Mr Dey, MLA from Balasore sadar, for his outburst against the Chief Minister and others and demanded that he should be immediately arrested for inciting violence in the state.

Mr Dey, however, said his statement was blown out of proportion in a section of the press and denied that he had ever made any statement to resort to violence against the state or any individual.

'' All through my political career, I have opposed violence and never intend to incite any violence against anybody, least of all against the Chief Minister, Ministers and the Chief Secretary. '' He further said as a law abiding citizen he respects the law.

Meanwhile, when contacted by the mediapersons, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik described the statement of Mr Dey as ''irresponsible''and said law is always there for all''.

State Director General of Police Suchit Das said the police were verifying the authenticity of the statement made by the OGP MLA adding that appropriate action would be taken after examining all facts.

State Home Secretary Santosh Kumar, however, declined to make any comment on the issue.
