Koreans come back to beat 10-man Togo 2-1

FRANKFURT, June 13 (Reuters) South Korea came back from a goal down at halftime to beat World Cup debutants Togo, reduced to 10 men for most of the second period, 2-1 in a Group G game today.

Togo, whose World Cup presence had hitherto been marked more by a players' pay dispute and confusion over who was the coach, took a surprise lead in the 31st minute through Mohamed Kader Coubadja.

But the game turned in the 53rd when Togo captain Jean-Paul Yaovi Abalo Dosseh was sent off for a foul on the edge of the box.

Lee Chun-soo equalised from the resulting free kick and substitute Ahn Jung-hwan scored the winner in the 72nd minute with a looping shot from just outside the box.

Togo's defeat, under German coach Otto Pfister who returned to the team yesterday after walking out last week, means all four African debutants at the World Cup have lost their opening matches.
