Bangalore, June 13 (UNI) The Karnataka government today clarified that Kethaganahalli village did not come under the controversial Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project area.

The clarification comes in the wake of media reports that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy owned 24 acres of land near the village, located near the BMIC project being promoted by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE).

In a release here, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board Special Deputy Commissioner T C Krishnaswamy said the village did not come under the jurisdiction of either the expressway project or the townships that were going to be built as part of the project.

There were about 200 villages which came in the vicinity of the project between Bangalore and Mysore and the land surrounding these villages could not be used for any purpose, other than agriculture,.

unless land owners got permission from the BMIC authority, specially formed for this purpose, he added.

The project, which had faced several roadblocks, was in the eye of storm yet again when Mr Kumaraswamy accused NICE of having acquired excess land of 2450 acres for the project. However, the company had denied it.

Meanwhile, the government was contemplating to bring in a legislation to redeem the excess land from NICE.
