India, SAfrica sign deal for cooperation in capacity building

New Delhi, June 13 (UNI) India and South Africa today signed an agreement for wide- ranging cooperation in human capacity building.

The MoU, a vital reaffirmation of the strategic partnership between the two countries, provides the framework under which specific collaborative projects would be developed.

Governance and administration, local government, education and information technology are among the priority areas which the MoU focuses on.

It was signed by Minister of State for Personnel Suresh Pachouri and South African Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi in Cape Town, an official release here said.

Mr Pachouri is on a four-day visit to South Africa from June 11.

He is accompanied by senior officials from the Departments of Personnel and Training, Human Resource Development and Urban Development.

He is scheduled to meet the Deputy Speaker and the House Chairperson of the National Assembly, besides interacting with the members of the Portfolio Committee on Public Service Administration in Cape Town today.
