Punjab not to levy tax on petrol, diesel
Chandigarh, June 12 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today said the state government would not levy any tax on increased basic price of petrol and diesel.
This is expected to give a relief of Rs 100 crore to the consumers of the state. Major relief is expected to go to the farmers.
Disclosing this here, a offical spokesman said that the government would have collected an additional tax of Rs 100 crore on petrol and diesel as a result of recent hike in prices. However, it has been decided to re-adjust the rates of tax of petrol and diesel in a manner that no additional tax burden would be passed onto the consumers.
