One killed, 5 journalists among 25 injured in north Kashmir protest
Srinagar, June 12 (UNI) One person was killed today when police opened fire to disperse demonstrators protesting against the alleged desecration of a mosque and killing of a youth reportedly in firing by the security forces at Trehgam in Kupwara.
Five journalists and 13 police personnel, including a senior officer, were among 25 people injured in stone pelting and police action at Trehgam, official sources said.
Javid Ahmad Malik, 18, was hit by a bullet when the police fired few rounds to disperse the demonstrators. He was later rushed to Srinagar hospital where he died.
