One killed, 26 injured in grenade blast in Jammu

Jammu, June 12 (UNI) One person was killed and 26 others were injured early this morning in grenade attack at bus stand in Jammu.

SSP Police control room Shaqeel Beig said three grenades were hurled from a bridge at around 0740 hrs in different areas of bus stand.

One person died on the spot and 26 others were injured, three of them seriously. All the injured have been admitted to government medical college here.

The deceased could not be indentified as reports last came in.

The blasts shattered the windowpanes of around seven buses and damaged few other vehicles.

Senior police officers with the bomb disposal squad have reached the spot and the whole bus stand has been evacuated and cordoned off.

Mr Beig said the situation is now under control.

The explosions have taken place at a time when pilgrims from all parts of the country are pouring here for Amarnath yatra.
