Kyndiah discusses Meghalaya crisis with Sonia

New Delhi, June 12 (UNI) Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region P R Kyndiah met Congress President Sonia Gansdhi here today and discussed the political crisis developing in Congress-ruled Meghalaya.

Mr Kyndiah met Ms Gandhi after 20 rebel Congress MLAs had addressed a letter to her saying that they did not repose faith in the leadership of Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lepang and called for his replacement with state Minister for Parliamentary Affairs J D Rymbai.

According to party sources, Mr Kyndiah emphasised the need to maintain unity in the party in the state at all costs.

With the strength of of 29 MLAs, the coalition Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government headed by the Congress, could bring speedy development and progress in the state, Mr Kyndiah told Mrs Gandhi.
