I can die happy, says Trinidad keeper Hislop

LONDON, Jun 12 (Reuters) Trinidad&Tobago goalkeeper Shaka Hislop said today he could die happy after keeping Sweden at bay in a shock 0-0 World Cup draw in Group B.

Hislop was a last-minute inclusion after first choice keeper Kelvin Jack was injured in the warm-up on Saturday and the West Ham United player pulled off a series of fine saves.

''It was the proudest day of my career,'' he said in a column in The Times newspaper. ''I think it would have been even if I hadn't played but Saturday's match completed the jigsaw for me.

''I know now I'll be a happy man when I retire. ... for things to go as they did, well, I think I'll die a happy man.'' Team captain Dwight Yorke received a congratulatory telephone call from Trinidad Prime Minister Patrick Manning on the bus home to the team's training camp after the match, Hislop said.

Hislop is unsure whether he will keep his place against group leaders England, who beat Paraguay 1-0 in their opening match, on Thursday.

''If we go into the England game with our newfound self-belief, who knows what can happen? It can be done,'' he said.
