Five people burnt alive in Bhandara district over land dispute

Nagpur, June 12 (UNI) Five people, including four of a family were burnt to death over a land dispute at Pimpari in Bhandara district by a member of the same family last night, police said today.

They said Arun Bhaiyaji Mhaske (32) along with his friends entered his brother Shantaram Bhaiyaji Mhaske's house at about 2300 hrs last night when the latter's family members were asleep. They beat them mercilessly and later torched the house charring all the occupants to death.

The deceased have been identified as Shanataram Bhaiyaji Mhaske (45), his wife Mangla Mhaske (37), his son Sonu Mhaske (17) and his daughter Monu Mhaske.

Sonu's friend, who was sleeping with the deceased, was also burnt alive and his identity has not been ascertained, the police said.

The incident was a fallout of an old dispute over land between two brothers Arun and Shantaram Mhaske.

'' Arun Mhaske and his friends are absconding. No one has been arrested and ivestigations are in progress,'' the police added.
