Cong. Should redeem assurance on Rajya Sabha seat: Mani

Kottayam, June 12 (UNI) Kerala Congress(M) leader K M Mani today asserted that his party was not ready for any compromise or negotiation on the Rajya Sabha seat as it was an already decided issue.

At a news conference here, Mr Mani said the UDF Chairman had given an unequivocal assurance to the party on May 24, 2005 that the next Rajya Sabha seat would be given to the Kerala Congress(M). Now the Congress should redeem its assurance, he said.

The party secretariat would meet on June 14 at Thiruvananthapuram to chalk out future course of action, he said.

In reply to a question on the housing board scam Mr Mani said that it was a simple issue. Minister P J Joseph and former Housing Board Chairman T U Kuruvila had already admitted fund diversion and now it was for the Chief Minister to decide whether to order a Vigilance inquiry or not.
