Club members arrested for screening pirated CD of 'Fanaa'

Surat, June 12 (UNI) Surat Tennis Club at Athwa Lines' office bearers were arrested here yesterday on charges of violation of Copyright Act by screening a pirated CD of the film 'Fanaa'.

According to sources, Surat Tennis Club had planned a screening of the film 'Fanaa' for its members at the Club's private theatre on Saturday night.

Detection unit of Crime Branch yesterday arrested office bearers of the club including its chairman Aravind Inamdar, members Ajay Halavala, Uday Shah and peon Tukaram under the Copyright Act for using a pirated CD for screening the movie 'Fanaa', police said.

However, that same night, word spread about the private screening of the movie and BJP-Yuva Morcha workers barged into the theatre, disrupted the screening and ransacked the mini theatre.

But the police said they did not receive any complaint from the club regarding the Yuva Morcha attack.
