CITU observes token 'chakka jam' against oil price hike

Kolkata, June 12 (UNI) Vehicles came to a halt for five minutes throughout West Bengal today as CITU-backed road transport workers observed a token 'chakka jam' in protest against the oil price hike.

Most of the public vehicles and goods carriers screeched to a halt at noon as part of the sustained movement launched by the left parties involving all frontal organisations.

Industrial workers in both organised and unorganised sectors also participated in the demonstrations, meetings and processions in different parts of the state.

The CITU will organise sit-in demonstrations and rallies in front of the Income Tax office in Kolkata and all central government offices in districts tomorrow as part of the all-India protest day.
