Jammu, Jun 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today air-dashed to Jammu to get a personal appraisal of the grenade blast and enquire about the welfare and treatment of the injured.

Replying to reporters here, the Chief Minister praised the residents for maintaining their cool and not going astray by the provocative attempts of anti-peace elements, besides refusing to get divided on communal lines.

Saying that the residents have time and again exhibited their bravery of standing united and firm to uphold secular traditions and mutual brotherhood, he advised the political parties to shun the practice of communalising the situation just to derive political mileage for gaining votes.

Mr Azad appreciated the locals for braving the fight against terror and added that for the past 16 years, the people of Jammu had fought the battle well with their minds, rather than physically, thus providing no chance to violence mongers to gain ground in Jammu.

The Chief Minister while denouncing the grenade attack on innocent victims said that those indulging in such misadventures would only be hatred by people. Commenting about media reporting, he said that facts and the depth of any occurrence must be ascertained properly while filing reports to provide correct a scenario of events to the public.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Transport Minister Mangat Ram Sharma visited the Government Medical College to enquire about the condition of those injured in the grenade attack at the General Bus Stand, in which one person was killed and 29 others were injured.

The Minister appreciated the role of doctors and other para-medics attending to the blast victims alongwith police and administration.

Mr Sharma directed the Principal of GMC Dr Mumtaz Goni and senior doctors attending to the injured to provide the best medicare facilities.

He also interacted with the injured and their attendants and personally enquired about the medical facilities being provided by the hospital authorities but also about the incident.

The Minister also personally handed over envelops containing Rs 5000 to each of those injured in the blast as immediate relief measures for catering to the expenses.

He pointed out that in the present scenario the government is already busy managing two yatras -- Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath alongwith a large influx of tourists in the state while the Sindhu Darshan Festival at Leh has also started from today. Moreso, the government is not only taking care but providing adequate security to all, including activists of the major political parties who are in Jammu and Kashmir.

He advised the activists and leaders of the major political parties to refrain from such utterances that ignite communal passions, adding that they would not be serving the cause of peace but only of the divisive elements.
