Alliance Francaise to celebrate 'Fete de la Musique'

Bangalore, June 12 (UNI) A grand festival, showcasing multi-cultural music and dance like Indian classical music, dance, jazz and western music, will be conducted as part of the 25th anniversary of 'Fete de la Musique' (World Music Day) at Alliance Francise (AF) in the city on June 17.

Briefing reporters about the celebrations, AF Director Eric Rousseau said the festival, which was first held in 1981 had become a social phenomenon and tradition in the garden city. In France every year on this day, thousands of musicians, both amateur and professional, gathered at all public places to celebrate the true spirit of music.

This year again, keeping the tradition alive, Alliance Francise de Bangalore was organising the fete with one main purpose -- to promote and enjoy good music, he said.

Some of the groups which have confirmed their participation included T S Mani and Group, Jazz Revival, Aurko, Galeej Gurus, Maximum Pudding, the RaghuDixit project and Yantra.

The event was being organised by AF, Bangalore, in collaboration with the Embassy of France in India and French Ministry of Culture and Communication and the Republique Francaise.
