47 trying to go to Dubai on forged visas arrested
New Delhi, June 12 (UNI) Police have arrested 47 Dubai-bound passengers from the IGI Airport here trying to board a Qatar Airways flight on forged visas.
The arrests, made in instalments last night and this morning, were made after 12 passengers were found holding visas with forged stamps on them during a check by airport officials, according to senior police official.
Most of those arrested hailed from Punjab and Haryana who told during interrogation that they had been duped by a Ropar-based travel agent.
While 12 were arrested while they were to board a Qatar Airways flight for Dubai, the rest were arrested this morning.
They have been charged under Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using of forged documents as genuine) and 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), the officer added.
