YDI to set up plant to manufacture Yakult drink

Kolkata, Jun 11: Yakult Danone India (YDI), a joint venture of Danone group of France and Japanese company Yakult Honsha, will set up its factory in Haryana to manufacture Yaukult, a special fermented milk drink which helps to maintain natural balance of digestive system.

The company will start manufacturing the drink from 2007, the company spokesperson told UNI today.

''We have also acquired eight acres of land in Haryana Food Park to set up the factory,'' the official added.

Company official said Yakult is 'live microorganisms or good bacteria' which when administered in adequate amount confer health benefits which would help prevent intestinal infections.

''We will launch the product very soon and it would be moderately priced to suit India market,'' the official said.

Yakult is available in over 24 countries worldwide. Yakult Honsa has 28 plants across the world and sell nearly 25 million bottles everyday.
