Undeground cadres asked to vacate Kohima
Kohima, June 11 (UNI) Superintendent of Police (SP) K Martin Pienyu has asked all armed cadres of the undergound factions in this district to vacate the civilion areas within ten days.
In a notification here today, Mr Pienyu asked the cadres to vacate all the towns and villages, failing which necessary steps would be taken to apprehend the cadres.
He also informed all underground groups to strictly adhere to ceasefire ground rules, which they agreed with the Centre and asked the cadres not to move in uniform and with arms in the towns and villages.
However, those cadres designated and issued identity cadres by the chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group and Ceasefire Supervisory Borad would be allowed to stay with their respective designated leaders.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the CeaseFire Monitoring Group (CFMG) and Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) Lt Gen R V Kulkarni in a statement said there was no immediate plan to review the ceasefire ground rules, but steps had been initiated to strengthen the existing ground rules to stop the factional clashes among the undergound outfits.
He also informed that the security Forces and police should act as per the ground rules when factions clash or the presence of underground cadres disturbs the peaceful existence of people.
He had already asked all the law enforcing agencies to act in such situation.
The CFMG and CFSB were constituted by the Union government to monitor the implementation of the agreed ground rules with both NSCN factions with Gen Kulkarni as its Chairman.
The Assam Rifles, operating in the state, had also requested the Union Government to review the ceasefire ground rules, which needed to be amended, otherwise it had become difficult to implement the ground rules, according to Lt Gen Z U Shah, GOC, 3 Crops.
