South Club ends monopoly of Cal Gym

Kolkata, Jun 11 (UNI) Calcutta South Club lifted the BTA League Tennis Trophy ending five years monopoly of Calcutta Gymkhana with facile 3-0 mergin here today.

Turning up for winners, Enrico Piperno and Hira Lal Bhandari in the veterans' doubles, although facing some pressure, prevailed over Dilip Kumar and Ashok Kumar 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

The Men's Doubles was a closely fought affair as both the matches went into three sets. Asit Chaturvedi and Siddharth Verma outwitted Md. Younis and Ronny Sarkar 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.

Second Men's Doubles: Raghu Damani&Nirvick Mohinta (South Club) beat G.S.Gandhi&Gora Mukherjee (Cal. Gym) 6-7 (5-7),6-0,6-4.
