No villager killed in June 8 encounter: Police
Jagdalpur, June 11 (UNI) Police today said that no villager was killed in the encounter with Naxals at Daverpalli in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday.
Superintendent of Police Pravir Das dismissed the charges of former CPI legislator Manish Kunjam that several villagers were killed in the encounter.
''Following a tip-off that the Naxals were holding meeting with the villagers, a police team reached there. The ultras opened fire and in retaliation, eight of them were reportedly killed,'' he said.
However, the Naxals managed to carry away the bodies of their comrades.
Mr Das said five ultras, including two women, were arrested and three others admitted to the hospital.
