Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi road to be free from inundation: Nitish

Patna, June 11 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that state government was formulating an action plan to make Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi road free from inundation for smooth traffic movement during monsoon.

After making an aerial survey of Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi, Mr Kumar told mediapersons that during the monsoon period, main road connecting Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi continued to remain inundated affecting normal flow of traffic for six months in a year.

He said that downpour in Nepal resulted into floods in Bihar and it also contributed to large scale inundation in northern parts of the state.

Mr Kumar directed the road construction department to prepare a detailed project report in this connection and place it before the state government and the centre for its approval.

He said forecast on floods would be properly propagated through public broadcasting system which would enable the common people to shift to safer places.

State government was fully prepared to face the challenges, he added.
