Manipur BJP in deep crisis after diktat of militant group
Imphal, Jun 11 (UNI) BJP Manipur unit, Chief Dr H Borobabu along with his party MLAS will leave for New Delhi shortly to discuss local problems with the party's central leadership.
The Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), a militant group, had imposed ban on BJP during electioneering in the last municipal polls.
A senior BJP leader said the KYKL has demanded expulsion of former union minister Th Chaoba from the BJP, charging him with being involved in some corruption cases.
BJP's general secretary S Tikendra said a party meeting decided to apprise all local issues to the central leaders as many workers here were leaving the party since the ban was announced.
Mr Chaoba, meanwhile, reportedly refused to resign from the party despite the party having failed to campaign during the Imphal municipal elections that held on May 31 last.
With the assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year, the BJP leaders are concerned about the prospects of party in the poll.
The central leaders were also opposed to the idea of expelling Mr Chaoba, a senior leader, on the diktat of the militant group, a senior leader said.
