K'taka not to lower duty on petro products, defends bus fare hike

Davangere, June 11 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today said sales tax on petroleum products will not be reduced and asked the central government at the Centre to decrease fuel prices, instead of directing state governments to consider reducing sales tax on it.

Talking to reporters at Honalli, about 60 km from here, he said the hike in bus fares will not be rolled back.

Mr Yediyurappa said state had released Rs 150 crore for taking up road repair work.
