Mysore, June 11: Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) National President H D Deve Gowda today said the state government will not dishonour the Supreme Court judgement on the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMIC).

Talking to newspersons here, he said ''The state government will soon take a decision on taking back the excess land from the project executors, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE).'' Asked about former Deputy Chief Minister and AIPJD leader Siddaramaiah's statement that the matter should be handled with care as the Apex Court had passed order in favour of NICE and had slapped Rs five lakh damages on the Government, Mr Gowda declined to comment, saying ''He (Mr Siddaramaiah) himself is an advocate.'' He said he did not want to further elaborate on the subject as he had already expressed his views on the issue in New Delhi and did not want to repeat it again.

The state government was planning to bring in a legislation to redeem the excess land allocated to NICE for the project and Mr Gowda was also in favour of it.

Mr Gowda announced that Ms Sharadamma was the official candidate for the Mysore South Teacher's constituency in the elections to the State Legislative Council on June 17 and appealed to the teaching faculty to support her.

The JD (S) supremo was here to attend a book release function and inaugurate the library building, built at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore, in the Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering.
