Haryana sports academy to come up at Rohtak: Hooda

Jind, June 11 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to set up ultra modern and advanced sports academy Rohtak to give an impetus to sports activities in the state.

This was disclosed by the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of a sports stadium at Safidon today. The stadium would be built at a cost of Rs 75 lakh on an area of 10 acres. He further informed that the Academy at Rohtak would be established with the assistance of the Union Government.

The Chief Minister said that the government would incur an amount of Rs 30.50 crore to promote sports during the current financial year. Apart from this a sum of Rs 40 crore would also be spent to strengthen sports infrastructure in the rural areas.

He said the government had doubled the diet money of the sportsperson from Rs 50 to Rs 100 per day. Similarly, the number of sports nurseries had also been increased from 20 to 31.

Mr Hooda said the government was making strenuous efforts to promote sports in the state.
