Chowrasia tied 8th, Digvijay Singh tied 12th in Bangkok Open

Samui, Thailand, June 11 (UNI) SSP Chowrasia overcame early jitters to card his best round of the week to finish tied eighth, while compatriot Digvijay Singh was tied for 20th in the Bangkok Airways Open here today.

Local favourite Chawalit Plaphol and canadian Rick Gibson were levelled at a four-day total of three-under 281 and the Thai golfer eventually had the last laugh as he won the play-off against Gibson on the 18th hole.

Hoping for a top-10 finish, Kolkata pro Chowrasia, however, stumbled early as he dropped two shots on the par-four second hole.

He parred the next five before slotting a birdie on the eighth and then relived his second round memory, firing an eagle on the par-five ninth to put himself back on the track.

His home-bound journey was a sedate affair with seven par shots before he signed off ith a birdie. With rounds of 73, 71, 74 and 69, Chowrasia aggregated three-over 287.

Digvijay Singh also had his best round of the week when he returned a card of 70 to takle his four-day tally to six-over 290 for teh tied 12th place.

Amandeep Johl (294) stood tied 19th while Gaurav Ghei had a share of the 34th place with a total of 15-over 299.

Among otehrs, Amritinder Singh (300) finished tied 38th, Uttam Singh Mundy (305) came tied 57th and Jaiveer Virk (314) was tied for 67th.
