763 small-scale units set-up in Kashmir last fiscal

Srinagar, June 11 (UNI) About Rs 400 lakh have been given to 743 beneficiaries in Kashmir as subsidy for establishing small scale units during the last fiscal, thus providing employment to about 1,000 people, an official spokesman said today.

The subsidy was provided by the Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), he added.

The spokesman said the Jammu and Kashmir Bank has also provided a loan assistance of Rs 12.82 crore to the beneficiaries generating employment to about 1,000 people.

He said the Board has an ambitious plan to operate a Bee-Breeding training Centre at Baghi Ali Mardan in Nowshera here during this month to train the people from adjacent areas in bee keeping skills on modern lines.

The Board would soon open a rural industrial consultancy centre at Baghi Ali Mardan to cater to the needs of the Valley-based beneficiaries in selection and formulation of projects up to Rs 25 lakh for setting up small-scale industrial units in different areas.
