When Balachandar's film scene came true to hero Chiranjeevi

Hyderabad, Jun 10 (UNI) Film Hero Chiranjeevi today narrated to the President A P J Abdul Kalam how a scene in noted film director K Balachandar's film 'Rudra Veena' has come true in his own life, during Dr Kalam's visit to the 'Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust' here.

Chiranjeevi said when Balachandar conceived a scene in the film where the Prime Minister comes down to a village to falicitate an ordinary person who excelled himself, he disagreed with the director.

He said it was a filmy scene and argued that it was immpossible that a Prime Minister came down to a village to honour a commoner, and suggested changing the scene to the Chief Minister of the state coming instead of the Prime Minister.

''Balachandar insisted on it being the Prime Minister and he shot the scene as per his own conception. Today I am amazed that the most distinguished person of the nation and the President of the country came to my Trust and sat next to me'' he said.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Chiranjeevi said he, in fact, wanted touch the feet of the President and wondered if it would be a breach of protocol. The President later shook hands with the actor.

Chiranjeevi said he started with the support of his fans, supporters and some doctors at a blood bank when he knew that people were dying for want of blood. He said the response was overwhelming.

Then he started his campaign for eye donation and said already 1,600 carniac transplantation surgeries were conducted.

He said he had now taken up a campaign at caring for HIV patients. He said he was touched when a small girl told him that when she went to her grand-mother's house after both her parents died of HIV, the grand mother, who had earlier made her sit in her lap and fed her fondly, kept her in the cow shed and pushed a plate of food with a stick to her. He said he was now situating to ensure that affection should be shown towards HIV affected persons besides trying to control the deadly disease.
