Srinagar, June 10 (UNI) Two days after the BJP announced a reward of Rs one lakh to civilians who will kill a militant, party leader Sofi Yousuf survived an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in south Kashmir today.

''It was a narrow escape for me and my three Personnel Security Officers (PSO),'' Mr Yousuf told UNI.

He said he was on way to Srinagar from Anantnag when militants detonated a powerful IED near Bijbehar patrol pump at 1130 hours.

''It was a close shave as the private vehicle I was travelling in had just passed the area,'' he said, adding the vehicle was damaged and one of the PSO, Shabir Ahmad, was injured.

Mr Yousuf alleged he and other party leaders were not provided proper security by the government.
