Rs 24.80 lakh robbery from jeweller solved: police

New Delhi, Jun 10 (UNI) Two jewellery shop workers who had claimed to have been robbed of Rs 24.80 lakh belonging to their employer were arrested alongwith their three associates here today after they admitted to committing the crime, police said.

Pradeep Rana and Kanhaiya Lal, both long-time workers at Jainsons Jewellers in Karol Bagh, had claimed on June 5 that they were abducted and robbed of the money by two unidentified men when they were on their way to the bank to deposit the amount.

Pradeep said he was stabbed on his left palm and left thigh by the abductors when he tried to resist the robbery.

However, Pradeep and Kanhaiya today accepted having committed the crime when confronted with evidence collected through a police CCTV camera installed at the purported scene of crime, police said.

Almost the entire robbed amount was subsequently recovered. Three of their accomplices in the crime were also arrested.
