People urged to use power judiciously during World Cup

Imphal, Jun 10 (UNI) Chief Engineer of Electricity department Sanaton has appealed to the people of Manipur to use power at minimal level so that the department can supply power during the World Cup Football.

Mr Sanaton said that load-shedding was due to immense power crisis.

The Manipur government has sanctioned Rs one crore for this project.

Power Minister Francis Ngajokpa said the National Hydro Power Corporation has assured to provide adequate power during the World Cup.

People would demonstarte in front of power offices to demand immediate repair of transformers.

The government has said it could not repair the transformers.

Local MLAs and clubs have given funds to repair the transformer.

Officials said MLA I Hemochandra, former Chief Minister R K Dorendra provided money for repairing transformers at their respective constituencies.

With the World Cup fever in the air, people still continue to buy television sets and most shops are giving discounts for television sets.
