Panchayat polls on June 28 and July 2: Notification issued

Hyderabad, Jun 10 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission today issued the notification for the Zilla Parishat, Mandal Parishat and Panchayat elections.

Elections will be held in two phases on June 28 and July 2, 2006.

According to the schedule announced, nominations will be received from June 13 to June 17 between 1030 hrs and 1700 hrs. Scrutiny will be on June 18 and objections on rejection of nominations will be received on June 19. The objections would be considered on June 20 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is June 21. Final list of contesting candidates would be published the same day. Counting will take place on July 4.

Polls will be held for 1097 Zilla Parishat and 16,133 Mandal Parishat seats. The SEC, however, decided not to hold elections to the Bukkaraya Samudram mandal in Anantappur district.

While Vizianagaram, East Godavari, Krishna, Prakasham, Kadapa, Anantapur, Karimnagar, Medak, Adilabad, Kurnool and Nalgonda districts will go to polls in the first phase, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, Guntur, Nellore, Chittoor, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam districts will go to polls in the second phase.
