Nitish Kumar made aerial survey of flood-hit areas

Patna, June 10 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today made an aerial survey of flood-hit areas of Nalanda and Jehanabad districts.

Before making an aerial survey of the flood-hit regions of these two districts, Mr Kumar told newspersons here that district magistrates of all the affected areas had been asked to complete pre-flood preparedness at the earliest.

He said the government would ensure adequate availability of food grains.

He said the State Food Corporation godowns would be stuffed with foodgrains in the probable flood-hit areas and Food Corporation of India (FCI) had also been approached in this regard.

Mr Kumar said hand pumps would be sunk at higher places where people take shelter during the floods.

He said emphasis should be laid on flood forecasts so that people could shift to safer places.

He said polythene sheets should also be made available in abundance for the benefit of the flood-hit people.

Chief Secretary G S Kang, Secretary to Disaster Management Department P K Basu and special secretary to the Chief Minister Chanchal Kumar accompained Mr Kumar during his aerial survey.

The Chief Minister would make an aerial survey of Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur districts tomorrow. These districts have been partially hit by the floods.
