Mah Govt to provide Rs 4,740 cr as crop loan to farmers

Sangli, Maharashtra, June 10 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has decided to provide crop loans to the farmers to the tune of Rs 4,740 crore for the current kharif season.

Talking to reporters here, State Cooperation Minister Patangrao Kadam today said that each farmer could avail the loan upto Rs three lakh at the rate of six per cent.

He said the disbursement process of crop loans has already started and so far Rs 1,092 crore out of the total target of Rs 4,740 crore have been disbursed to the farmers.

For this, the government machinary will visit all villages to conduct survey of the farmers. Even those who are not members of any credit society can avail this, he informed.

Mr Kadam, who is the Sangli District Guardian Minister, said that the state government has sanctioned Rs 20 crore to carry out repair works on the Krishna canal.
