Kinetic exports 35,000 two-wheelers in FY06
Lucknow, June 10 (UNI) Kinetic Engineering today said it exported 35,000 units last fiscal, mainly to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the European markets.
Addressing a news conference here, Kinetic Engineering, Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Ajinkya Firodia said exports accounted for almost 20 per cent of the company's consolidated sales last year.
Kinetic group clocked a domestic sales figure of 1.5 lakh units, including 95,000 scooters in FY06.
''This year, we are targetting to sell about 1.25 lakh scooters and 65,000 motorcycles in the highly-competitive domestic market,'' he informed.
Overall, Kinetic has a market share of 33 per cent in scooter space, while it has about 3 per cent share in the motorcycle segment.
''Our main strength and thrust area is the scooter segment, where we have been present since 1974. However, we are making steady progress in the motorcycle segment too,'' Mr Firodia maintained.
The company would soon launch another bike in the 100 cc category called 'Shakti', which would be mainly positioned for the rural markets in the country.
Pointing put that UP topped Kinetic sales chart in June and July last year, Mr Firodia said the company would launch its 'Kine' scooterette in the state and neighbouring Punjab. Priced at Rs 28,499, the Kine customers would get a free Motorola C118 mobile phone.
''The 72 cc Kine is targetted at college going girls. The vehicle comes with a mobile charger,'' he added.
Earlier this week, Kinetic launched two new models, Blaze and Stryker.
