Karnataka Youth Congress holds rally in support of reservation
Bangalore, June 10 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) youth wing today took out a rally in support of the centre's proposed 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in Institutions of higher education.
Addressing the rally, Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly N Dharam Singh, complementing the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, said it was done "to encourage the downtrodden to join the main stream." It is pity to note that some political parties, which supported the Bill inside the Parliament, were opposing outside only to appease a section of the society, he added.
Mr Singh alleged former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) National President H D Deve Gowda has forgotten the meaning of the word secular. ''His (Mr Gowda's) main aim, since beginning, was to see that his son Kumaraswamy becomes Chief Minister. Mr Kumaraswamy, who joined hands with Bharatiya Janata Party for power is not giving attention towards reservation,'' he added.
Earlier, Youth Congress workers led by their President Dinesh Gundurao took out a procession shouting slogans in favour of reservation.
