Kalam proposes National Mission for Bio-Diesel
Hyderabad, June 10 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam while stressing energy independence as nation's first and foremost priority in the next 25 years, today said a National Mission for Bio-Diesel at the Centre and Bio-Diesel Boards in states should be set up to achieve the desired goal.
The two-day conference on 'Bio-Diesel Towards Energy Independence' held at the Rashtrapati Nilayam, here, concluded with the Dr Kalam's clarion call to realise 20 million tonnes of Bio-Diesel per annum.
Drawing plans towards reaching the required capacity, he urged to produce 6 million tonnes by 2010, which would be equivalent to 5 per cent of the present import and to progress steadily towards 30 million tonnes by 2010.
