Hand over terrorist infested areas to Army: BJP
Jammu, June 10 (UNI) The BJP today asked the Centre to come out with a road map on tackling the menace of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and demanded the terrorist infested areas be handed over to the Army.
Party spokesman Prakash Javadekar, addressing the party workers from Andhara Pradesh and Maharashtra as well as from within the state on the third day of week long 'save Doda-save nation' satygraha here, said the centre must take the people of the country into confidence on its strategy to tackle terrorism in the state.
He came heavily on Congress, particularly state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, for describing the party's movement against the terrorism as intended to create a wedge among the communities and disturb peace in the state. ''The Chief Minister, instead of criticising the BJP, must appreciate steps taken by the party to give message to violence mongers that their activities would no more be tolerated,'' he said.
Mr Javadekar attributed the reasons behind the rise in terrorists attacks including the repeat of POTA by the UPA government, claiming this step has emboldened the terror outfits.
Addressing the gathering, party's former president Bangaru Laxman criticised the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his statement of 'zero tolerence' in human rights violations by security forces in kashmir and said that he remained silent on 'zero tolerence' on killings by the terrorists.
''It was ironical that when terrorists activities are on the rise in J K, the government is considering proposals of demilitrisation, put forth by the political parties, having soft stand towards militants, in the second round table conference,'' he said.
Mr Laxman asked the government to handover the terrorists infested areas of the state, including Doda, to the Army.
Andhra Pradesh BJP state president Inder Sen Reddy said that his state has become the hub of Pakistan intelligence agency isi's activities. It is not only abetting terrorism in J&K but has also joined hand with the naxalites in their state and distributing arms and ammunition to them besides indulging in running of fake currency,'' he charged.
Later, Mr Javadekar and Mr Laxman led the procession of thousands of party leaders and workers to court arrest near the Indra Chowk.
