Collector bans arms ahead of civic polls

Pondicherry, June 10 (UNI) The Pondicherry administration has banned the carrying of fire arms, swords, knives and other weapons by the public in view of the local body elections here.

District collector and election officer Theva Neethi Das in a release today said carrying of such arms may cause breach of law and order and hence, it is banned under section 144 of the CrPC.

He also requested the licenced arms holders to deposit their arms with the nearest police station and get receipt to be collected back after the election process is over.
