Asom govt relaxes sales tax on petrol, diesel

Guwahati, Jun 10 (UNI) Congress-led Asom government today announced it will forgo the additional revenue accruing from Sales Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel.

Informing this through a release, government spokesperson Ripun Bora said the decision was taken to relieve the people of the state of the hike in petrol and diesel prices.

This would result in immediate reduction of petrol prices by 86 paise per litre and of diesel by 28 paise per litre, the release added.
