Yoganand Shastri inaugurates 3 Telsa MRI machine at IHBAS

New Delhi, June 9 (UNI) Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri today inaugurated nation's first twin speed whole body 3 Telsa MRI system machine with HDX platform at IHBAS hospital in East Delhi.

He said the project was a unique endeavour in public private partnership -- 'Focus MRI and Delhi government' -- of the government reflecting the commitment of the state government to provide latest medicare facilities to the people at nominal prices.

Dr Shastri said with the availability of MRI facility in the Trans-Yamuna area the poor and needy patients would be able to receive the best possible MRI diagnostic imaging at cheap rates.

He said for this purpose, the government had provided the land and space to the Focus Imaging Group. The group would provide a routine scan facility to in-house patients of IHBAS hospital at the cost of Rs 1,500 only and around 20 per cent poor patients, falling in BPL category, would be provided the facility free of cost.

Delhi government employees will have to get a reference from their dispensary or hospital to get the MRI scan from the hospital, he added.

The Health Minister informed that it was the first machine of its kind in the entire Asian region and would provide state-of-the-art MR Imaging to the patients of IHBAS, GTB and Rajiv Gandhi Hospitals in particular, and rest of Delhi and neighbouring region as well.

Focus MRI had been conducting trial run from May 19 with four trained Radiologists in the hospital in Dilshad Garden.
