Suresh to umpire in Azlan Shah Cup at Malaysia
Chandigarh, June 9 (UNI) Suresh Kumar Bhatia of Punjab and Sind Bank has been appointed umpire for the 15th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Hockey Tournament in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from June 18 to 25.
According to Indian Hockey Federation secretary general Jyothikumaran, the former India international player will be required to reach Malaysia by June 16.
He is the only Indian impire to supervise matches in the Tournament.
Suresh Kumar began his career as umpire in 2001 and has umpired in the four-nation hockey tournament in Germany in 2003 and the four-nation Under-21 hockey tournament in Pakistanin last year.
India is among the eight countries competing for the Azlan Shah Cup. The other countries in the fray are Argentina, Australia, Korea, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand and Pakistan.
Haider Zulfikar of Pakistan will also umpire in the championship.
