Shillong, June 9 (UNI) As a stalemate continued in the Congress-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government, AICC Secretary-in-charge of Meghalaya Major Ved Prakash will arrive here tomorrow to address the situation in the party.

As the dissident Congress MLAs refused to budge from the demand of change of leadership, AICC president Sonia Gandhi has rushed Maj Prakash to the state.

At least 20 Congress legislators on June 6 had informed Ms Sonia Gandhi that they do not repose faith in the leadership of Mr Lapang.

They proposed Meghalaya Parliamentary Affairs Minister and veteran Congress leader J D Rymbai to replace Mr Lapang.

''He (Maj Prakash) will meet all the 29 Congress MLAs at Hotel Pine Wood to listen to their views on their demand,'' Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president Onwardly Nongtdu told UNI here today.

Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang said last evening that he would step down if he was unable to prove his majority before AICC observer.

AICC member Oscar Fernandes, in-charge of Meghalaya affairs, is scheduled to arrive here on June 12, when the crucial CLP meeting will be held.
