Six officials arrested, Rs 52 Cr unaccounted property unearthed

Bangalore, June 9 (UNI) Karnataka Lok Ayukta today unearthed unaccounted property worth more than Rs 52 Crore and arrested six Government officials today.

Talking to newsmen, Lok Ayukta Justice N Venkatachala said that the officials arrested included Karnataka State Finance Corporation General Manager H V Krishna Swamy, Commercial Tax Officer H Rangaswamy, Cauvery Guest House Junior Engineer Narappa, KSRP, Mangalore Commandant Krishnappa, Commercial Tax, Dharwad Assistant Commissioner Gangadharaiah and a Village accountant Narayana Reddy.

Stating that the raids were conducted on the offices, residences and other places belonged to above culprits, Justice Venkatachala said that ''Government servants are enriching themselves at the cost of poor people. These six people belong to poor families and began their career as clerks or attenders. But in an unfortunate development for people of the state these men went on to amass the 'Ugly Riches' through unabashedly corrupt practices.'' All the arrested were remanded to judicial custody.
