School children take to streets over petro price hike
Varanasi, June 9 (UNI) The ruling Samajwadi Party today roped in school children to demonstrate against the recent petro price hike at Nai Sarak in the district.
Led by Kulsum, a sixth grader at St Johns School, the students demanded that the UPA government rolled back the petro price hike.
''This increase will not only affect the transport, but spiral prices of other commodities as well including book, pen, pencil and other study material,'' said Kulsum.
Meanwhile, SP activists led by Uttar Pradesh Cow Commission chairman K P Yadav took out a 'Chetawani March' from Harishchandra Ghat to protest the price rise.
He said the petrol pump owners across UP were planning to down shutters for 24 hrs, the date for which will be announced soon.
Local traders also carried out a procession in the city demanding immediate rollback of increase in petro prices.
