Over 3 lakh trees felled from Dal Lake in Kashmir
Srinagar, June 9 (UNI) More than three lakh trees have been cut and removed from in and around the world famous Dal Lake in Kashmir so far and the process was going on with average 5000 trees being felled per day since June 1, an official spokesman said today.
He said the State Forest Department, as per the Jammu and Kashmir High Court directions, was removing the trees from the Dal Lake area.
The work of uprooting left-over stems of the trees was also being taken in hand, the spokesman added.
He said the de-weeding operation, both mechanically as well as manually, was going on in full swing.
