Orissa govt. announces incentives for surrendered Maoists
Bhubaneswar, Jun 09 (UNI) Surrendered armed Maoists would be awarded an additional amount on the basis of the arms and explosives deposited during the surrender.
A new surrender policy announced by the Orissa cabinet today, had categorised the various types of weapons and explosives and the incentive package associated with the items.
Briefing newsmen after the cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary Subash Pani said each surrendered extremist would be paid an additional amount for the arms and explosives besides Rs 10,000 fixed for their surrender.
He said a Maoist with rocket launcher and light machine gun would be paid additional Rs 15,000, while Rs10,000 extra would be paid for each AK 47 rifles.
Similarly, Naxalite with pistol would be given additional Rs 5,000 and Rs 500 each for a hand grenade. A remote control device by the surrendered extremist would fetch him additional Rs 3000 and so also the explosives, the Chief Secretary said.
